Foundational Partnership

Our foundational partnership with the University of Ceara endured for more than 40 years, supporting the research and development of scientists and medical professionals.

Priority Partnerships Model

Priority partnerships commit to:

  1. Improving an aspect of global health equity over multiple academic years
  2. Aligning with at least one of UVA’s strategic research themes (democracy, environmental resilience, precision medicine, brain and neuroscience, digital technology and society)
  3. Supporting interdisciplinary collaboration at UVA and at the partner site
  4. Supporting UVA student opportunities for faculty-mentored research, education, and/or internships
  5. Developing the site for broader academic engagement, including credit-bearing activities
  6. Growing administrative personnel capacity

Incubator partnerships also exist around the globe, with the following qualifications:

  1. Year-to-year pilot partnerships for scholarship or clinical care
  2. Faculty supported by department or by the Guerrant Global Health Equity Professor award
  3. All sites remain vetted by CGHE
  4. Students eligible for CGHE scholar support but adhere to timeline of application and similar pre-departure requirements
