Amita Sudhir, MD, Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of Global Health Training for the Center for Global Health Equity.

Amita Sudhir is a former residency director. Her interests are in emergency medicine education in resource challenged settings, and the impact of climate change on health. She also worked on COVID protocols for primary care in India during the pandemic.

She has been the recipient of several teaching awards, including the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. She currently leads UVA Emergency Medicine’s programs in Kenya and Nepal with AMPATH (Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare.)

She received a BA in Biology from Swarthmore College, worked in public health for a couple of years, and then attended the University of Virginia for medical school, residency, and a fellowship in medical education.
